Life is like sailing
learning like playing sports
poetry like singing
Growing up is like nature
a dream like a movie
family like a house
and accomplishing a goal like hiking

Walking on the Beach
Hot, we squeeze into our Red Durango,
Headed toward our paradise
We set up our polka dot umbrella and checkered blanket
I feel the crumbly sand beneath my feet,
The waves nipping at my toes
I hear the seagulls squawking and the waves hitting the rocks
The summer breeze blowing against my back
I smell the sea salt and I feel like I want to drain it
and put it on the avocados we put in our picnic basket
Headed toward our paradise
We set up our polka dot umbrella and checkered blanket
I feel the crumbly sand beneath my feet,
The waves nipping at my toes
I hear the seagulls squawking and the waves hitting the rocks
The summer breeze blowing against my back
I smell the sea salt and I feel like I want to drain it
and put it on the avocados we put in our picnic basket

My Mind
My mind is like a storage room
So many boxes of ideas, facts, and memories
I pick up the boxes,
Searching through the mumble and jumble
for that factor of two numbers.
Finding it is like discovering an old model airplane
In an old box.
It feels good that I found it
And I hope I can find more
I want to keep searching.
So many boxes of ideas, facts, and memories
I pick up the boxes,
Searching through the mumble and jumble
for that factor of two numbers.
Finding it is like discovering an old model airplane
In an old box.
It feels good that I found it
And I hope I can find more
I want to keep searching.

My friend Garfield
This is my friend, Garfield
So orange and balmy
The safest thing in the world
Except my mommy
This is my friend, Garfield
All soft and stripey
But before the wash
He can smell a little ripey
This is my friend, Garfield
I love him, I do
But sometime I wish
He could talk, just like you!
So orange and balmy
The safest thing in the world
Except my mommy
This is my friend, Garfield
All soft and stripey
But before the wash
He can smell a little ripey
This is my friend, Garfield
I love him, I do
But sometime I wish
He could talk, just like you!

Books
Reading is like swimming
in a ocean of knowledge
that swallows you up
Like surfing waves
savoring and enjoying the moment
in a ocean of knowledge
that swallows you up
Like surfing waves
savoring and enjoying the moment
